Limestone Canyon - November 2005

Being volunteers for Whiting Ranch has it's privileges. We get to hike in Limestone Canyon, which is not open to the public. The views were spectacular!

Mt. Charleston Nevada - September 2005

mtcharleston019.jpg

Here's another great destination for those of you looking for Outdoor Adventure while staying in the Vegas area. Mt. Charleston, with a peak that reaches nearly 11000 feet, is a less than 1 hour drive from Vegas (depending on where you start/stop). The drive is very easy - no twisty mountain roads. Before you know it you are above 8000 feet and ready for hiking, backpacking or mountain biking. While it was over 100 degrees in Vegas the day we went, it was a very comfortable 68 degrees with a nice breeze. What a great way to escape the desert heat! It's so funny that we travel to Vegas a few times each year and hardly do the Vegas scene - too much Outdoor Adventure nearby to deal with!

Paso Robles - May 2005

pasorobles045.jpg

Our trip to Paso de las Robles, California ended serving us many treats. We camped, hiked, hunted geocaches, dined, checked out the Great Western Bike Rally, toured wineries and tasted their best offerings, rode bikes and strolled amongst street rods interesting people at the West Coast Kustom Car Show. Paso Robles has a lot to offer, and is located among rolling hills covered with oak trees and vineyards.

Lake Cachuma - March 2005

pics 042.jpg

We finally made it to Lake Cachuma and were very pleased with what we found! We camped in the county campground, which is just a short drive from Santa Barbara, Solvang, Buellton and Los Olivos. Yes, that's wine country folks. There is no shortage of the things you can do while visiting this area, like: boating, hiking, biking, camping, shopping, wine tasting, horseback riding, and more. The campground is HUGE, with over 500 campsites (over 100 having hookups). Sit back and enjoy our pictorial tour of this beautiful area.
